The Surrey & Hampshire Canal Society. The Basingstoke Canal

The Society was formed in 1966 to save the privately owned waterway and campaigned for restoration under public ownership. This was achieved in the early 1970's when the Hampshire and Surrey County Councils purchased the derelict waterway. 32 miles of the restored canal were open in 1991. The Society continues to work on the canal and safeguard the canal's interests. The Ottershaw Society supports the aims of this group. For more information: www.basingstoke-canal.org.uk/

Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise (HACAN)

HACAN is an organisation concerned with representing residents under the flight paths around Heathrow Airport. Ottershaw Society supports this group, especially in view of the proposed third runway expansion.
